Nisha Peshin

Dr Nisha Peshin, a well-known school educator, has more than 35 years of experience in scholastic education, course module planning and child development. She has an MA, B.Ed., MPhil and a PhD in Education.

She started her career as a lecturer in a B.Ed. College and then joined the Aga Khan Education Services (AKES-India) in Mumbai, leading their School Improvement Programmes in India, a subset of an international programme launched in seven countries. During this period, she travelled to several developing countries in Africa and Asia.

She has been a member of the India–Sri Lanka taskforce on correlation between education and employability in Sri Lanka.

Dr Nisha has been with the DAV College Managing Committee (DAVCMC), the largest non-profit organisation in school education in India, since 1992. Over the years, she has been in different roles, all related to school education. Presently, she serves in multiple roles as Director (Public Schools & Academics), Director (Centre for Academic Excellence—CAE) and Dean (DAV United Foundation—DAVUF).

In her current role, she is in direct administrative control of DAV schools across different states in India. Besides, it puts her in a leadership role in conceiving and implementing policy initiatives, including academic audits, teacher training programmes and IT implementation for the entire DAV group.

She heads the DAV United Foundation, a non-profit association aimed at bringing the current students and alumni of DAV institutions together for common good, through a series of social and cultural activities, and a knowledge hub. She is the editor of the DAV United Magazine, a bi-monthly publication having an impressive circulation of 150,000 per run.

Dr Nisha Peshin was born in Mumbai in a traditional Kashmiri Pandit family. She is presently settled in Delhi with her husband, an ex-banker from the State Bank Group. She has two children, a daughter and a son, both married and settled abroad.
